Still I have to troubleshoot - Travel between grids was broken, map bottles didn't work, harvest overrides were broken etc etc :)Įnjoy your yourney. Prepare to be often times frustrated when things don't work - getting my grid working took about 4-5 days, and I went with a premade map. Join both unofficial the server owner's discord and also Skarvig's discord for help with SGE/Map Setup/Ini Config, I dunno if it's not against this subreddits rules but If you want I'd link them for you. Load times are then about 56s per grid, I usually start them all at once and they boot within 5 minutes.

As soon as you start adding workshop mods into jour Server.json, count on needing to have a much bigger overhead (2 is the bare minimum with 9 mods) The base "2GB" per grid applies only if you run without any mods. I can get away with it, because there's only ever players in one grid - the rest gets put into the pagefile when more ram is needed elsewhere.ġ. I get away with 64G of ram and 6C/12T Ryzen 3600X, running a 6圆 grid with regions and subatlases. the players have no lag or long load, just if a grid crashes, it takes 4-5 minutes to restart it. When i start it/restart it, its about 8-10 minutes to load all the grids.

My one and only slow thing is the server load time.

They say you should have a cpu core per server, but I have not run into any issues on my quad core I5 processor. So a 4x4 you'd need at least 32gb of ram and so on. The server uses around 2gb of RAM when a player is in the grid, and 1 gb when not. So for a 3x3 server, 9 grids, need 18gb ram ideally. As long as you dont play on the same computer running it, its not too bad.

Its not TERRIBLE if you keep it a decent size.Īim for something like I5/I7 processor with 100gb of free space or so. You can also daisy chain multiple computers to each run parts of the server. They say to "budget" 2 GB of RAM per grid. It has 16 gigs of RAM and it runs perfectly. So i run a 3x3 server on a separate computer in my house. I'm sure if you let the teams at Microsoft do what's in the best interest of the people instead of the company, we wouldn't have this much crap on the stock OS, breaking updates, etc.Ītlas is fine to use, they have a folder on the desktop upon install containing simple scripts to run in order to disable/re-enable whatever you like. You see, the issue with XP or 7 is compatibilty.Īlso said specialized engineers are made to do the work the company requires of them. some random guy on the internet is surely better at it than the hundred of specialized engineers who works on it. well.If you want to use an OS compromised in its security, might as well install XP or 7 would definitely be a more appropriate match for such old CPU without the needed security performance enhancement needed included in them.

I guess it would be on a Core 2 Duo or first gen Core I series (CPUs the OS doesn't support), and secondly. "Disabled performance-hungry security mitigations".įirstly, "performance-hungry". The page says as basically the main point they do:
